The reader of Rampage magazine is a male between the ages of 14-25, however there may be a small percentage of female readers (of the same age) as well, but the main target group is males. The reader of the magazine won’t be an extremely mature person as they will have a very fun, feisty personality however he is educated quite well, and enjoy learning new things. He is a man who enjoys socializing with friends and loves to have a good time, and therefore enjoys spending a lot of time with friends and hanging out.

The man who reads this magazine is a very confident man and has strong opinions on everything and he is not afraid to express his thoughts and opinions, and is always up for sharing what they think and debating issues. The reader of this magazine is not necessarily rude, but they will have strong thoughts and be an opinionated person, and they love to make new friends.

He can rely on himself because is an individual and knows how to look after himself and does not rely on other people to do everything for him and never follows the crowd, he does what he wants to do because he wants to do it, and will not be peer-pressured into doing things he does not want to do, he knows how to say no to people. Also, he does not worry too much over his image, but he will let the world know he is a fan of heavy metal by the way he looks and dresses for example, crazy hairstyles, band t-shirts, hoodies, dark colours, skinny jeans etc… and he does this because he likes standing out from the crowd and he is not ashamed of who he is.

Most people who read this magazine will mostly be school students and college/6^th form students, it will also be common for university graduates and young adults to buy the magazine as well, the majority will come from school/college students. He will be interested in studying artistic subjects such as: music, art, media, design technology, English (writing) and anything that lets them express themselves and allows them to be creative and design new things. Outside of their studying life, he will hold strong relationships with friends and will most likely be in relationships, however these relationships being nothing serious as he is still young and does not want to commit, as well as this he will most likely still live with his parents, or just moving out into a cheap flat/apartment with friends whom are similar to him. He is waiting for the day where he can be an adult and enjoy the feeling of independence, however does not want to spend life alone, and would one day like to find a long term relationship.

Although the reader of this magazine likes to stay fit and not get unhealthy, he will enjoy partying, where he can get drunk and socialize with friends and meet new people, he will also enjoy playing sports and practising skills; these may be skills such as: Martial arts, parkour (free running), playing instruments, singing, football. He is also heavy attendees of gigs, and going to gigs is one of his biggest pleasures in life and they always without fail attend his favourite bands gigs hoping and aspiring one day to be like them. 

When he comes home and has nothing to do, he will play his instrument or practise their vocals, perfecting them and creating new music because it is his favourite thing to do, however when it is time to stop, he likes to watch TV shows such as family guy, comedy stuff because he enjoys a laugh, or he likes to play on their Xbox/PS3 games such as war games, games that require a tactical side to it and games such as ‘Guitar hero’ where he can live the virtual word of being a rock star. He may also find art and drawing a huge hobby and time consumer of his, so he is very interested in drawing new things and being creative.

Music is such a huge part of his life, he listens to music as much as he can and is his biggest joy in life and it is such a big passion of his. He listens to music for hours every day, it helps him in life, he can relate to it and sometimes music can help him get through bad times in life. He also uses music to escape from the world, when things may be going tough or he is just stressed from a hard day, he will come home and listen to music as it helps him escape the realisation of the world and for the time period he is listening to music, all his problems don’t exist. His favourite sort of music to listen to will be modern day post hardcore death metal otherwise known as 'Metalcore' but he will love listening classic old school heavy metal given he is in the mood for it. He enjoys mostly the power of the music, it is very strong and very aggressive and it helps him to stay calm and unstressed.
He likes many different types of heavy metal, ranging all the way back to old school rock N roll such as 'Motley crue' or 'Skid row' to all the new modern, heavy metal bands such as 'Bullet for my valentine' , 'Slipknot' through to the new breakthrough of heavy metal known as Metalcore, with bands such as 'Bring me the horizon' , 'Asking Alexandria' , 'Parkway drive'. This type of heavy metal is his favorite type of metal, it inspires him to be who he is in live, it inspires the way he dresses and his attitude to life. It will inspire him to be musical, and to express his feelings. He will take role models from famous heavy metal bands that influence him the most, these will be people such as 'Oliver Sykes (Bring me the horizon)' , 'Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria). They are his main influences in life. 

He will have an iPod or MP3 player where he can access music easily wherever he is, he will listen to music whilst on the bus, train, walking to the shop, because he just loves music. However also on his iPod he will have songs which are his ‘guilty pleasures’, so this consists of soft rock songs, mellow calm classical music, or some drum and bass, because he is open to variety and he respects all kinds of music and appreciates the talent of it. However, heavy metal will be the music he listens to the majority of the time and will be his favourite, as it always has been and always will be. One of the things he mostly respects about heavy metal artists (and especially death metal artists) is how some of them can become so famous in the heavy metal world, when it is not a popular music genre, he respects how hard some bands work for their place and where they are, and he recognizes their success, uniqueness and their confidence, this is what inspires him the most and gives him that confidence boost that he needs in fulfilling his dreams of becoming a musician.

The reader of Rampage magazine may also be interested in other music magazines such as ‘Kerrang!’ and ‘Rock sound’, because both celebrate the music that he loves, but as they are quite similar to each other, he is looking for a new and fresh magazine which includes new articles and new bands he can go and read about, he wants something new in his life that he can relate to, because he is getting bored of the others and how they repeat bands on the front cover. Horror films, action films, and comedy films are another one of his pleasures, he enjoys watching films anywhere but especially loves the cinema because he loves the effects, and how realistic modern day film is becoming, and he loves the new and fresh ideas of films and their interesting story lines. He is also a user of the internet, and he uses it mainly just to keep in touch with friends, this is through social networking sites like: Facebook, twitter etc… However he has a philosophy in life that he has taken from his main inspiration in the heavy metal world that says ‘You are only young once; don’t waste it on things that won’t benefit your future. Yes I’m talking about computers, don’t waste your life on them doing nothing, go out and enjoy every second of your life because I promise you, one day it’ll be over, and you won’t regret living a life of fun and doing what you wanted to.”

The reader of this magazine will love food, he loves trying new foods from different countries and cultures and he is always up for trying new things, he especially favours: traditional English food, Chinese food, and Mediterranean food. However he enjoys many other foods from different countries such as Thai food. Also, the reader will like to drink both alcohol and non alcoholic drinks, he will enjoy alcoholic drinks such as beer and vodka’s however the majority of the time, his favourite drinks will be from a selection of soft drinks (e.g. coke, lucozade etc…)

He maintains a strong connection and relationship with his family and friends. He tries to be someone who is there for all of his family and friends and will always help them and stick up for them in situations, other than music, his relationships are the most important thing in his life, and he loves all his friends and family. He enjoys mostly hanging around with friends, this is because his friends are people he can relate to and they share the same interests, he can relate to them and he can generally have a good time whilst he is with them and he spends as much time as possible with friends. Even though he loves his family just as much, they are people he finds it hard to relate to because they do not necessarily share the same interests, however because they have raised him and taught him from right and wrong, and always shown love towards him, he loves them back and couldn’t live without his family. Family life won’t always be perfect however because of activities he may enjoy (partying, staying over friend’s house and generally spending a lot of time with his friends) and his family may feel a little replaced and this would cause arguments, however there is still a strong connection between him and his family and he is very grateful to have them and shows appreciation towards them.
